Iona is our first cria from Leksi, a proven medium fawn female from the Canadian herd of Ruth Elvestad. Iona was up and on the move fairly quickly considering the awful heat in Kansas at the end of August 2007. We were pleased to see her uniformly fawn fiber as she dried off. She is colored very closely to that of her dam, and darker than her sire, Snowmass Nova's Inca.
Iona's sire, Snowmass Nova's Inca, is continuing the Nova - Casanova - Bueno line made legendary by both Nova (2005) and Casanova (2004) being named Futurity Herdsire of the Year, by placing some solid and uniformly fleeced offspring on the ground. Iona is no disappointment in those and many other aspects. As she has grown she has developed into a very well conformed maiden with a deep chest and good presence. She has a sweet and lovely expression about her face.
When Iona was shorn in May 2008 she sheared 4.25 lbs of quality, usable fiber at only 8 months old. WOW - did we mention she had a 5" staple length? Nice fiber on this little lady. The character of her fiber is uniform from base to tip and is medium amplitude with a high frequency.
We are excited about the different possibilities she presents in future breeding considerations. Iona has some black in her lineage which makes her a fawn with lots of options for breeding possibilities. She has been exposed to our Accoyo Legacy son, Crescent Moon's Titanium for a spring 2010 cria.
